MY INSPIRATION

Oh, the obstacles that come in life.
We look at them and say, What did I ever do?"
But an answer is never given.

Throughtout most of your life, we have been together.
We have dodged every bullet that life has shot at us so far.
I look at you and think to myself, "How strong and smart, yet so innocent and vulnerable you are."

You have made a difference in my life by just being there.
You have given me the courage and strength I didn't even know I had.
You bring out the best in me and I only wish I could give you something back.

When your pains torment you like the worst torture ever possible,
And you look at me with tears in your brown eyes that are sweeter than the sweetest chocolate,
I can do nothing, but hold you close and feel that I have somehow failed you.
But, even though your pain is like the fiery pits down below,
You always seem to have a smile brighter than the sun itself.

You are a lesson to be learned from.
Always fighting against the odds, still here and finding the good in life.
I now believe when people say, "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger."
I believe it because you have given me proof.

Gregory's Poem
by Belen Hernandez
12/01/03

"The angel of the Lord took the hand of Gregory Bryant-Bruce and led him home."

How fast can you run, Gregory?...I can run fast now!
How high can you jump, Gregory?...I can jump high now!
How far can you see, Gregory?...I can see far beyond the rainbows now!
How long can you play, Gregory?...I can play all day now!
How long can you laugh, Gregory?...I can laugh forever now!
How many angels can you see, Gregory?...I can see so many they are swinging me around and around and around, throwing me in the air and catching me...and I am safe, warm and loved...in the arms of the angels and our Lord.
