SIGN UP NOW FOR THE GREGORY CENTER MENTORING PROGRAM!

The Gregory Center sponsors a mentoring program which pairs interested adults with special needs with a child with special needs for whom the adult can serve as a positive role model. If you are an adult with a disability or debilitating chronic illness who would like to serve as a mentor or if you have a child who needs a mentor, please contact us at the Gregory Center so we can include you in our program!

CALLING ALL WRITERS, POETS, ARTISTS and CARTOONISTS!

The Gregory Center is compiling a book of heartfelt pieces that are reflections of the lives of those who have disabilities, as well as those who live with or work in some way with individuals who have disabilities or chronic illness. This book will be sold as a fundraiser for the Gregory Center. The book will be along the fashion of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. We are soliciting your writings and drawings as contributions to this work. If your work is chosen for the book, you will be given recognition for your work in the book. If it is not chosen for this book, we will keep it on file for future issues or to be used in other avenues of our work. If your work is not original, please submit the owner of the work, so we may contact that person for permission to use the work. If the work is by an unknown author or artist, we will list it as unknown with a disclaimer that if the name of the author or artist should become known in the future we will then submit that person to receive credit for the work. Please sign in on our registration page or e-mail us at info@gregorycenttter.org, if you have an interest in making a submission.

"Do You See ME?"
A Disability Awareness Enhancement Program

MISSION
To create an environment where each and every child can develop positive self-esteem and grow to reach his or her maximum potential, whatsoever it may be.

Objectives:

1. Participants will learn to appreciate diversity amongst all people.
2. Participants will be able to properly define "disability" vs. "handicap" and be able to use the terms appropriately.
3. Participants will learn to emphasize Ability rather than Disability.
4. "People First" language will be introduced and reinforced.
5. Participants will understand the every day challenges of living with a disability.
6. Participants will understand the " caretaker" challenge.
7. Participants will identify a project as a group to improve accessibility or to
remove " disablers" in their community.

The Gregory Center needs your support. We are a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization
that currently operates strictly on donations and the payments we receive for programs. We do not
receive any outside sources of funding at this time, so we desperately need donations from our
supporters to allow us to continue to offer high quality programs for our children and families at The
Gregory Center. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable.
